The Knight of the Synthesizer
Dr. Raza is a progressive rock keyboard artist, based in Toronto, whose signature sound proudly embraces its DIY roots, an instrumental overdose of keyboard focused prog and the art of storytelling. Raza is an avid writer and uses concept stories that accompany his music to take listeners on his adventures. A drummer from a young age, and a dentist and policy analyst by academia, the piano has been his main instruments for 10+ years, on which he is self-taught and also teaches others.
Fans have described the music as “If Dream Theater was an electronic band and Jordan was the only member”. Raza pursues his art because according to him, he cannot imagine his life without it. He doesn’t do it because he wants to, but because he has to. His artistic endeavors have given him his fair share of problems such as being hacked, bullied, being stolen from creatively and financially, mental health issues and physical debilitations like tenosynovitis. Yet he continues chasing his higher purpose and meaning.
“On Brain In A Jar, he is able to make his virtuoso talents abundantly clear. His DIY approach allows him to showcase such talents utterly untamed…for any fan of music at its most eccentric and untamed, this is likely to appeal immensely” – Distorted Sound Magazine
“The music is very wild, rapid, heavy, majestic, mythical, symphonic and akin to Rick Wakeman and Keith Emerson” – Pre-Shake, a prog blog by Panda Brother
“Very ELP-esque keyboard dominated symphonic prog from this very talented and ambitious musician. Heavy at times, but mostly dominated by Raza’s Dramatic piano” – Progmetal Zone
